While Ireland is famous for its stunning natural beauty, its weekend getaway options are equally mesmerising. From bustling cities to tranquil countryside escapes, there's a wealth of experiences awaiting you. Let's explore some gems that might have eluded your radar until now.

Fun Fact 1: Did you know that Ireland's coastline stretches for over 7,000 kilometres, making it the longest in Europe? You're never too far from a beautiful beach.

Dublin: A Capital Adventure

Our journey begins in the heart of the country, Dublin. Even if you call this vibrant city home, you'll be amazed by how much it has to offer for a weekend break. Stroll through the historic streets of Temple Bar, where every corner tells a tale of the past. Visit the iconic Trinity College Library and lay your eyes on the illustrious Book of Kells.

Fun Fact 2: Dublin's Ha'penny Bridge was originally a toll bridge where pedestrians paid a halfpenny to cross the River Liffey. Today, it's an iconic symbol of the city.

Galway: The City of Festivals

Take a short drive west and you'll find yourself in Galway, the city of festivals. The lively atmosphere, colourful streets and welcoming locals make it an ideal weekend getaway. Don't miss the Claddagh Ring Museum and a walk along Salthill Promenade.

Fun Fact 3: Galway's nickname, "The City of Tribes," comes from the 14 merchant families that ruled the city in the 17th century.

Belfast: A Tale of History and Culture

Venturing north to Belfast, you'll be transported into a world where history and culture intertwine. Explore the Titanic Belfast museum, where the story of the ill-fated ship unfolds. Journey to the Giant's Causeway and marvel at nature's masterpiece.

Fun Fact 4: The Belfast City Hall's dome is 53 metres tall, making it the same height as the main dome of St. Paul's Cathedral in London.

Kilkenny: Medieval Marvels

Head south to Kilkenny, where medieval marvels await. Kilkenny Castle, a 12th-century masterpiece, is a must-visit. Dive into the city's rich history and discover its charming streets.

Fun Fact 5: The Kilkenny Cats were two cats that fought fiercely until they devoured each other, inspiring the term "fighting like Kilkenny cats."

Limerick: Castles and Legends

Limerick, the city of castles and legends, offers a blend of history and folklore. Visit King John's Castle and the medieval quarter. Explore the stunning Adare Village, often called "Ireland's prettiest village."

Fun Fact 6: Limerick is renowned for its poetic tradition and famous poets like W.B. Yeats and Seamus Heaney have strong Irish roots.

Reviews
Vintage Newspaper From The Day You Were Born We recently purchased this gift for our mum who turned 95 this year. She loves to read the daily paper so we thought this would be the perfect gift for her. She is delighted with it and we spend a good deal of time looking through it and chatting about the past and growing up in Ireland.

It is beautifully bound and presented. In addition to the paper of her birth date, major events in the decade she was born are also included. It is hard to believe that you can get an entire newspaper print from 1925 - well done to those who had the foresight to save all this history. The quality of the print is good and some of it is quite small which is understandable due to the age of this paper. But the help of the varifocals and a magnifying glass, we are not missing out on any details!

Thanks to Philip and Ralph for excellent customer service. Maura Naughton
