The Experience
Pressed for time but eager to dive? The PADI Scuba Diver certification is the ideal solution. This course is quicker than the PADI Open Water Diver course, covering just the first three of five sections of knowledge development, the initial three of five pool sessions, and the first two of four open water training dives, leading to a limited certification. Perfect for young, enthusiastic divers or as a holiday certification, this course lets you dive under the supervision of a dive guide.
PADI Scuba Divers are qualified to:
- Dive under the direct supervision of a PADI Divemaster, Assistant Instructor, or Instructor to a maximum depth of 12 metres / 40 feet.
- Obtain air fills, rent or purchase scuba equipment, and participate in other diving activities with required supervision.
- Continue their dive training and complete PADI Open Water Diver certification and other specialty courses.
The Fun Part:
The Scuba Diver certification opens the door to the underwater world for those who thought a course would take too long or be too difficult. Upgrade to Open Water Diver whenever you want and start diving independently. This course is perfect for those short on time and heading for a holiday with guided dives.
What You Learn:
- Basics of scuba diving through knowledge development and pool skills.
- Buoyancy skills, comfortable ascents and descents, and breathing underwater.
- Staying warm, streamlining swimming skills, and buddy diving techniques.
- Diving environments and aquatic life.
- Preventing common problems underwater.
The Scuba Gear You Use:
All basic scuba gear is included with the course. You might want to invest in your own mask, snorkel, and fins. The course uses a buoyancy compensating jacket, scuba regulator, weight system, and instrumentation to monitor depth and air supply. A wetsuit is also used for comfort during the course.
The Learning Materials You Need:
PADI offers various home-study materials, including a book and DVD package or a multimedia DVD. These materials provide an overview of basic scuba diving skills, terminology, and safety procedures. Certified divers can use these materials as a reference for future diving adventures.
